How does a
osteopathic treatment?

An osteopathic treatment is divided into several phases that offer you a comprehensive insight into your health and possible therapy approaches:

  1. Anamnesis (preliminary interview):
At the beginning of our session, we will have a detailed conversation in which we get to know each other and you describe your health problems and medical history to me. I am also interested in past illnesses, operations, accidents, as well as medications taken and possible intolerances. If you have any findings or diagnostic results such as X-rays, MRIs or blood tests, please bring them with you.

It is important to me to find out more about your emotional and social aspects, as these can have a major impact on your well-being. The aim of this conversation is to get a comprehensive picture of your health situation and to determine whether osteopathic treatment is suitable for you. If necessary, we can also decide together whether further diagnostics or a visit to a specialist would be useful.

Since this is your first appointment, we will take a little more time for the preliminary discussion. We will also explain possible side effects and risks of osteopathic treatment and discuss the treatment contract and data protection regulations. For follow-up appointments, this discussion will be shorter because I already know your medical history and only new developments will be discussed.

2 .Preliminary examination:
The preliminary consultation is followed by a physical examination. For this, I ask you to undress down to your underwear. If you feel more comfortable in comfortable sports clothing, that is of course fine too. It is important that you feel comfortable, but the affected area of the body must be accessible for the examination. During the examination, I look at your body as a whole and carry out various osteopathic and clinical tests. I will explain the results of this examination and the preliminary consultation to you in detail, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions at any time.

3. Treatment:
Based on the findings from the anamnesis and the preliminary examination, we begin treatment. We focus on the areas that are related to your symptoms. It may happen that the treatment takes place in a different area to where you perceive your symptoms, as the body is a complex network in which everything is connected. Throughout the treatment, I will explain the techniques used to you and you will have the opportunity to ask questions.

4th follow-up examination

In order to assess what the treatment has changed, osteopathic and clinical tests from the preliminary examination are repeated. We will discuss the treatment and you should tell me how you felt during the treatment and how you are now feeling after the treatment. You can usually help your body to consolidate or maintain the changes brought about by the treatment. For example, I may give you exercises to do at home. We will then discuss together whether, when and how many further appointments will be necessary.

How many treatments do I need?

I cannot give a general indication of the number of osteopathic treatments required and the intervals between treatments. This information is very individual and depends on several factors. For example, it can have an influence on how long you have had the symptoms, what the causes are and how well your body reacts to the treatment. We will discuss together what represents a constructive solution for your individual situation and your needs. Osteopathy is a holistic therapy and looks at the whole person. This includes the fact that you are alive and constantly active and, for example, emotions or forces that affect you. It can therefore be advisable to visit an osteopath at regular intervals to support you in your life and your body.
